The cycling circle morning routine is for women* who want to start VELO Sunday on their bikes - in a circle of women* and with a cocoa ritual. Karen Rike from Runde Reise is the guide. What is a wheel race?
A balance bike race is a child-friendly race on two wheels - without any pedals. The kids push themselves off the ground with their feet and race along a closed-off track. It's not just about speed, but above all about fun, exercise and the first feeling of racing on two wheels. Ideal for little explorers aged 2 to 5!

The excursion to Boelckestraße, which is just a few minutes' walk from the festival site, offers an insight into the practical side of things. Together with project manager Petra Bischoff, we take a look at the main road in the garden city, which was rebuilt a good year ago. We take a look at the character of the "new" Boelckestraße on site and learn about the challenges that had to be overcome during planning and implementation.
The meeting point is at the infraVelo stand in the hangar (stand number: H_B16, opposite the VELO Café) at 16:00. The excursion is estimated to last 45-60 minutes. We will return to the festival site together.

Melina is a dedicated ultracyclist and bikepacking enthusiast. She has made a name for herself in the scene through her participation in challenging long-distance races and her involvement in the community. In 2024, Melina was among those who finished the Atlas Mountain Race in Morocco, one of the toughest unsupported races in the world.
As she prepares for the Highland Trail 550 in Scotland and the Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan this year, she talks to us about her experiences, preparations and challenges, and reflects on what drives her to undertake ever-longer dances in increasingly remote areas.
She found her enthusiasm for long tours through traveling. On bikepacking trips lasting several weeks, she explored countries such as Iceland, Georgia, Morocco and the Balkans. Melina talks about how these trips have shaped her, how her way of cycling has changed over the years and how the longing for vast landscapes, new places and encounters is what makes up all these experiences. Between leisurely exploration and ultra-cycling, the bicycle becomes a means of discovery, experience and exchange.
In addition to her sporting achievements, Melina is involved in several cycling collectives and is actively working to create more solidarity in the cycling scene and inspire more FLINTA* to take up cycling. Melina inspires on the bike and in the community. She stands for an inclusive and supportive bikepacking culture that focuses on shared experiences and mutual support.

In July 2024, Liz Steinwandel set off from Berlin by bike with the aim of reaching the UN Climate Change Conference COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, by November. Would she reach her goal? That seemed uncertain at first - the first stopover was Dresden. She spent four months driving over 8,000 km through 10 countries on her own to attend the conference and was impressed not least by the hospitality of many people. Afterwards, she traveled back in winter by train, bus, ferry and another 2000 km by bike. She would like to give a small impression of this solo trip at VELOBerlin.

second-hand bicycle. As single parents and with little money, they set off from Switzerland and reached Muscat, the capital of Oman, after many setbacks and challenges. What began as a spontaneous idea became the biggest adventure of their lives and over the three years it even took them from Oman to Vietnam.
